Sport England allocates funding to a wide-range of organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. The sources of funding come from the Exchequer and the Lottery.
Funding opportunities are available and specially designed to promote Sport England’s three outcomes set out in Sport England Strategy 2008-2011 – excel, sustain and grow. Investment can have an immediate impact as well as providing medium and long term support for people, organisations and network that grow and sustain participation in sport and lead on to sporting excellence.

All applications will be assessed, firstly, to determine whether they are eligible for funding, and secondly to assess the extent to which they will achieve the outcomes Sport England is seeking.
