Here is a sample of current local guidance on securing resources for culture and sport infrastructure through the planning system. The following examples illustrate policy guidance for culture and sport infrastructure provision, in particular existing and emerging supplementary planning documents (SPDs) on developer contributions. You can find guidance on securing funding for culture and sport through the planning system in the Strategies for funding cultural infrastructure section of the toolkit.

  • Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) references 13 examples of securing contributions through SPDs. You can access these through the Public Libraries, Archives and New Development: A Standard Charge Approach document.
  • Sport England has over 70 examples of SPDs for sport and recreation. You can access these through their Planning Contributions Kitbag.
