Introduction

Havering Borough Council formally adopted the Core Strategy on the 23rd July 2008. The Core Strategy establishes the council’s vision for how the borough will look in 2020, and the objectives for delivering this.

The document sets out the council’s strategy to balance the need to deliver economic prosperity and new and affordable housing with the protection and enhancement of the borough’s environment. The Core Strategy also sets more detailed development control policies which provide more guidance on the criteria against which planning proposals will be determined.
